Enhancing Accessibility and Safety Through Expert Paving and Acoustic Solutions in Clitheroe, Lancashire:
We enhanced the accessibility and safety of St. James Church in Clitheroe by replacing a crumbling paved area with new paving, steps, and ramps, and by creating a more acoustically comfortable space inside the church.
St. James Church faced several challenges:
Deteriorating Paved Area: The large paved area in front of and beside the church was crumbling, posing a safety hazard.
Accessibility Issues: The existing steps were difficult for people with mobility issues to navigate.
Acoustic Issues: The internal room was echoing and noisy, making it difficult for children attending classes.
D Blackburn Contractors provided a comprehensive solution to address these challenges:
Paved Area Renovation: Stripped away the old flags, rebuilt the steps out of blockwork, and repaved the area with durable grey concrete flags.
Accessibility Enhancements: Created ramps for wheelchairs and steps for those who can walk up and down easily.
Safety Features: Installed handrails and painted the edges of the steps with yellow and black paint to improve visibility and prevent trips.
Acoustic Improvements: Stripped out the existing interior room, reboarded, skimmed, painted, and decorated, and then installed acoustic clouds to dampen sound and reduce echoing.
Improved Accessibility: The new ramps and steps made the church more accessible to people with mobility issues.
Enhanced Safety: The new paving and handrails improved safety for all visitors, especially those with visual impairments.
Acoustic Comfort: The acoustic clouds reduced echoing in the internal room, creating a more comfortable environment for children attending classes.
Client Satisfaction: The church was extremely happy with the results and rehired us for the internal acoustic room project.
