Overview:

Revitalised an existing extension at Chagley Manor House in the Ribble Valley, Lancashire, transforming an unusable space plagued by leaks and temperature extremes into a comfortable and functional living area for year-round enjoyment.

Problem:

The existing extension at Chagley Manor House was:

  • Unusable: Due to leaks and drafts, the extension couldn't be used during the winter months.

  • Temperature Inconsistent: Too cold in winter and too hot in summer, making it uncomfortable throughout the year.

  • Incomplete: The homeowner needed a contractor who could handle all aspects of the construction, rather than just certain trades.

Solution:

We provided a comprehensive, end-to-end solution:

  • Full Demolition and Rebuild: Completely removed the existing extension and rebuilt it from the ground up, utilizing the existing stonework.

  • Thermal Upgrade: Used thermalite blocks for the inner walls and insulated the dwarf walls and columns between the windows to improve energy efficiency and regulate temperature.

Result:

  • Usable Year-Round Space: The rebuilt extension provides a comfortable and functional living area that can be enjoyed throughout the year.

  • Improved Energy Efficiency: The thermal upgrades help to regulate temperature and reduce energy costs.

  • Client Satisfaction: The client was extremely happy with the comprehensive service and the improved usability of their extension.
